OVERVIEW One of the most well-known lines in “Amazing Grace” says, “I once was lost but now am found, was blind but now I see.” By John Newton’s own admission, he took the first part of the line from the words of the father in the Scripture passage we will consider in this lesson: The story of the prodigal son. The father said of his son who returned home, he “was lost and is found” (Luke 15:32). Luke 15 has what seem to be three separate parables—a lost sheep, a lost coin, and a lost son. But I
